EQUINE MASSAGE THERAPY
Competition in equine sports is intense, our aim should be to produce movements that are natural and rewarding for the horse and ourselves. Unfortunately, the only voices heard and prioritites established are our own, and the horse is often misunderstood, leaving us surprised when poor performance is the result. Massage therapy is based on the understanding and the respect of biomechanical structures. It's more than a therapeutic technique, as it's meant to bridge the silence between the rider and the horse through sensory communication.
PREVENTION AND MAINTENANCE
"Better to be safe than sorry". Don't wait for your horse to show an issue before considering involving a therapist. Routine massages help to prevent musculoskeletal tensions and soreness, and keep your horse pain-free.
This particularly applies to thriving young horses. Regular massage sessions help to prevent musculoskeletal issues linked to uneven growth and/or training strain.
PRE-EVENT MASSAGE
Prepare your horses for competition with our targeted pre-event massage techniques. 15-20 minute massage, within the 2 hours of your start. Improving the blood flow, muscle warm up, evacuation of cell waste.
POST-EVENT MASSAGE
Aids your horse's recovery after events with our restorative massage techniques. Beneficial when applied within the 24 h after the event.
REMEDIAL - VET REFERRAL THERAPY
Massage therapy can provide solutions to a variety of preventive and therapeutic situations.
Whether it's a tack, post-trauma or management issue, massage therapy can only be beneficial for the well-being of your horse. Adapted techniques will help:
- Reduce or improve the management of the biomechanical constraints generating and maintening lesions or pain.
- Reduce inflammation or pain.
- Promote healing.
- Maintain the momentum of training by keeping the horse active.
- Prevent or manage secondary problems or complications.

THE LEISURE HORSE
At Re-Align, we understand that not every owner wishes to compete, and not every horse is meant to. However leisure horses deserve the same care and attention than the sport horses. Whether you think your horse is a bit "off", is stiff walking out of its stable, reluctant to move forward or to engage its hind quarter, Re-Align can provide physical therapy to address the issue.
